Election writing

Who are you voting?? What party do you think that I am going for?? Here are the three policies that i would vote for...In addition, it will make it safer for children to cycle and walk to school, fund school’s enough for school’s for education to be free, e xtend free doctor visits to people under the age of 18. I believe that green are going to convince  me to be on their side... the next thing that I am going to talk about is…..

Make it safer for children to cycle and walk to school. The green party think that too many children travel to school by car. They also think that if they do take scooters, walk, and cycle to school they would be more engaged in their learning. I think that it is a good reason because to much children come to school in a car and then there could be too much traffic so the children could be late for school. Another reason… It is also a good reason since  because by walking, cycling, and scootering to school… The children will be getting exercise at the same time. I am certain It is important that you stay healthy and exercise a lot.
Another great policy is fund schools enough for education to be free.

Fund schools enough for education to be free. Green party thinks that public education should must  free and include  every child.  I think that it is a good idea so every kid can learn for free, and even the people that get homeschooled can go and learn at a school. Another reason is… I also think  since that it is a good idea because the parents don't have to pay the school every year just to let their kid learn. I absolutely agree with this...It is important that every kid gets to learn in some way. I am certain that this is a good policy.
Another amazing policy is extend free doctor visits to people  under the age of 18.

Extend free doctor visits to people under the age of 18. Green says that free doctor visits are for people under 13. They think that doctor visits should be free for people under 18. I think that it is a good reason because people should be getting free check ups so they know if they are healthy or not.Another reason… It is also a good idea because people need a checkup so often and it would be good for the parents because they would not have to pay. Since It is very important I think certainly think   that we are healthy and that we know if we have a cold or not.  Next we are talking about a topic that I am personally against.

                                                                  (Against): National
Build a new hospital in Dunedin.  National are saying that they want to build a new hospital in dunedin. I think that it is bad reason because if they are going to build a new hospital in one place and not the others. Another reason…  also think that other places should have a new hospital so it does not have that old look. You can obviously tell that I am  certainly against this policy...
Now lets some it all up.

So I clearly think that the Green party is the best because they have lots of good policies. The policies in the green party is Health and safety.   Furthermore In the first paragraph I have talked about that it is good for children to walk and cycle to school. In the second paragraph I have talked about why it is good for education to be free...And in paragraph three I have talked about why it is good to extend free doctor visits to the age of 18. I have also talked about one of the policy  that I am against. I have made up my mind who I am voting for what about you??

My next steps are:    Add in more detail to my writing.

Koru Games Reflection

In the Koru Games the sport I competed in was… Girls football.

Our team won… 1 match because one of the teams did not show up.

I found the experience to be... quite challenging because… some of the school's were really good and really competitive.

In terms of working with Individuals and Groups; my solo level is… Extended abstract because… I worked well with the group and had fun.

For Teamwork; my solo level is…Extended abstract because… I can work with a team and have responsibility when I am working with my team.

I can recognise and understand a variety of grammatical constructions and some rhetorical patterns

In this unit I learnt… We learnt about... Nouns, Adverb, Adjective, Pronoun, Preposition, Conjunction, And... Adverbs.

A grammatical construction is to with parts of speech.

In parts of speech, I already knew what… A Noun is, and what a Adverb is and that is about all I knew.

The ones I didn’t know were... Conjunction that well and one of the most ones I did't know that well was Adjective.

I like this book because it was very interesting. I liked it because they made it really interesting and there were lot's of events that happened and there was a painful part that happened in the story. There are two main characters in this story. One of the main characters are at middle school almost at high school.

Current Events Term 2, 2017

WALT: I can successfully research a current event.

The National Standard that I have been aiming for during this unit of learning is:

  • Year 7/8: I can use appropriate skills and technologies to find and use a range of texts for specific purposes.

Each week we have read a short text about a current event/ topic. We then formed questions based on what we had read.  After this we researched the answers to our questions and finally we gave our opinions on what we had found out.

Careers Education C.V. Writing

In CAREERS EDUCATION we have been learning to write a skills based Curriculum Vitae.

A skills based C.V. focuses more on the skills that we have,  rather than our work history.

Three things that I have learned about writing a Curriculum Vitae are:

Reading - Evaluate Texts

In reading we have been learning to….apply some criteria to evaluate texts eg accuracy of information and presence of bias.

We have been evaluating texts against the following four criteria:
  1. Readability
  2. Accuracy
  3. Relevance
  4. Quality of language/ information.

Term 1 [blog post 1] 2017


Every Thursday the year 7/8 go to Lincoln primary school to do technology.
I am in Food tech today in food tech we made our own cupcakes I had a great
time making them.

On the way to technology I was only talking to the person next to me.I was showing the Care
values by saying thank-you to the bus driver and not talking loudly.On the way back I was only
talking to the person next to me.

I had a great time at technology and I can't wait until next time!

Current Events Term 1

In Current Events I covered these topics:
  • The design of the Halswell Skate Park and I made a submission to the council.
  • Donald Trump’s Refugee Plan
  • Christchurch Earth Memorial
  • The new Ngā Puna Wai Sports Facility
  • The Red Zone and Avon River Regeneration Plan with a submission to the council.

My favorite topic was...The red zone regeneration plan because…it was fun reading and learning about it.

Term 1 Novel Study

Term 1 Novel Study

This term I have been reading and studying the novel …Abandon Ship

I found this novel (interesting)  because…I like reading about events that have happen in the past and I like reading books that have a good tittle.

During the novel I had to complete two major assessment tasks. The first is an Explain Map which shows the consequences of a major event in the book. The second was a Describe++ Map (Inference map) which shows I how I have connected prior knowledge and other experiences to what I have been reading to make an inference.

National Standard this covers

  • Year 7/8  Standard
    • using several pieces of information to make inferences
      using their prior knowledge, along with information in the text, to interpret abstract ideas, complex plots, and sophisticated themes
    • I can use a range of strategies, such as inferring, to work out more complex words.

Leadership Article

In writing I have been learning to:
  • use all basic punctuation independently
  • attempt more complex punctuation (eg semicolons, colons, parentheses)

I have been especially focusing on using parentheses and commas. I have highlighted these in green where I have used them as well as other punctuation that I changed because it was used incorrectly. Here is a piece of my writing that shows this.

What makes a good Peer Mediator
My key leadership role is peer mediator.Each week I go around the school with two other people.We see if there are any problems. Leadership is a skill of being a role model to others.
The 6 traits of an effective leader are:Integrity,Trust-Worthy,Resilient,Goal Focused,Active-Thinker and motivational.

One of the leadership trait's for an effective leader is Integrity because being Integrity means that you are being honest and fair. A leader who has shown Integrity is...Richie Mccaw he has showed Integrity when he was playing the rugby games.This leadership trait is Important to my leadership role because when you do peer mediator you can not take sides.It is important that you show...Active-Thinker.

Games with minimal or no equipment.

In PE we have been participating in a variety of games that require little or no equipment.
Below is the Matrix which shows our progression in this unit of learning.

For capture the flag you would need cones and flags
for drip drip drop you would need a water bottle
for invisible touch you wold need some cones
for tag games you would need cones
for the other games you don't need that much equipment 
If we had a short time to play a game you would want something quick to start playing
It is good to play games that don't have that much equipment so you don't have to put that much away
so you can get stuck in the game so you get to play it for longer
So you can get the rules over and done with so you are not wasting game time 

My Strengths.  
Some things that I have done well during this unit of learning are…Getting involved in games .because...If it is game a game that I would not like that much I would still play it.

My Next Steps.
Some things I could improve on when playing games with minimal or no equipment are…getting to know where the game space is so I wont pass it  Because ... Sometimes I go out of the game place
